OCTOBER - A month of happening

Surviving a financial turmoil

The globe has been overwhelmed by the crisis in stock market over the past weeks, and New York has been the central of the world financial stage where Wall St. is located. Economy of United States has been badly hit amidst its uncertainties of determining who's their president for the next 4 years.

Banks are merging and stores are closing(that includes my favorite Russian take-out store), you could see new things happening almost everyday.

Commerce Bank is suddenly TD Bank;

Washington Mutual is now Chase Bank;

Capital Bank is taking over North Folk...

Most American whose tendency is to purchase almost everything (even just a bottle of milk) with credit cards seem so lost when suddenly jobs were lost, banks are calling you for payments, gas prices are soaring...

When all these are happening around us, Margaret our sister reminds us to be the 'birds in the fields', kingdom may vanished but the WORD of GOD prevails. Let no McCain or Obama be our commander in chief, but trust that our God will provide.

Double Happiness

Stella our little sis is registered to be married! The wedding will be October 2009 and guess what? Yet another good news from the Lee family, the youngest of the clan is tying the knot with the love of his life coming June!

Mom's birthday

Mom celebrated her birthday on Oct 15. She is 64 and still going strong, need a bit of weight loss though.

Then she had a fall

Mom fell off from her seat while she's on a Washington DC trip and suffered a minor injury on her hip. By God's grace no fracture was found from her x-ray, only muscle ache and it will heal over time, all she need is rest for a speedy recovery.

New York reintroduced

Uncle Richard (my dad's youngest brother) and auntie Mimi paid us a 9-day visit from Vancouver, Oct 18-26. All of us in the family went all out to be the best tour guide to make their trip a fun-filled and unforgettable one.

Who can resist the glamour and charm of the Big Apple anyway?
