Have you shopped for Christmas?

My gang have decided to skip Christmas gift-giving this year due to the gloomy economy but the decision came after I have promised to get Zoe a 'Tini Puppini Tutu' for the occasion. Keiko forbids me from getting her any more gifts after I bought her a pair of nice winter boots on Black Friday (a day after Thanksgiving when many of the retailers put on drastic sales to kick off the holiday season). The little girl actually took the ban in a very positive manner, though she still love the 'Tutu' plush dog, she is willing to give in as she doesn't want to see her godma 'having no money for food' (that's how the mother puts it). She has a kind heart, very matured in thinking for her age.

It was me who has had a hard time letting go. It's bad to disappoint a child, more so that's a child who has just lost her grandpa 8 months ago. But Keiko wants Richard & I to understand there are bound to be disappointments, wishes not come true, that she will encounter in her years to come. So those who love her should help her learn to accept imperfections in life and the grace to let go unfulfilled desires. Well it's easy to say yes to support Keiko, but indeed it's hard to swallow when she made Zoe come to me and tell me face-to-face that I don't need to get her present this Christmas.

We could sacrifice our dreams/needs but could we sacrifice our children's?
